Allan Charteris is the managing director and principal consultant at Diluvial with over 20 years’ experience in floodplain risk and coastal zone management, advising local and state governments as well as developers and industry within the private sector. He has recognised technical expertise in flood and storm tide risk assessment, flood hazard mapping, impact assessment for works in the floodplain and coastal lowlands, identification and evaluation of flood mitigation strategies, and hydraulic design for bridges and other waterway crossings. He has a proven track record for delivering technically challenging floodplain risk assignments.
As well as these technical capabilities, Allan has extensive experience in the preparation of “big picture” plans, including strategic management plans for catchment and floodplain managers, with a thorough understanding of the strategic and policy frameworks that govern waterway, floodplain, catchment and coastal management. He offers specialist expertise in the assessment of climate change adaptation strategies for vulnerable communities. Allan is an effective presenter and communicator, leading and facilitating stakeholder and community consultation that ensure best-for-project outcomes.
Allan has worked extensively throughout Queensland, NSW and Victoria, and internationally in South East Asia, the US and Mexico. He brings this diversity of experience to each and every project at Diluvial.
